I agree; I wouldn't go so far as to file a complaint, but I don't really like it. At the St. Regis Doha, I threw all of my dirty underwear on a corner of the shelf in the closet, only to find everything folded when I returned. I pity the maid who did that, and found it unnecessary and intrusive. But they mean well.

As for the subject of the OP, I was really impressed by the Shangri-La Rasa Sayang in Penang. I was expected a dated resort in a dated location, but the service was really great and I have only positives to say about the hotel. There were guys passing out fruit and offering impromptu mini-massages (free of charge) outside, and it seemed like every time I needed something, they were there. As soon as I lit my cigar, a waiter was standing there with an ashtray. The outdoor barbecue/buffet had very attentive service too.
