The remodeled D is light years better than the old D and lets not even talk about the old C. Other than the customs issue and some (but certainly not all) GAs that think the boarding process should be free for all I see no problem with MIA. Although MIA needs either another AC or FL in D.
But the airport has open spaces and if you are not an AC member there is usually wide open seating away from your gate. I agree the schelp up top to the Airtrain is a little annoying. Unless I am going from one end to the other I usually just walk.
