They're definitely different. The big question is, did the second qualify with Chase for the 5x. Did anyone try it? Hopefully it'll come around again.
Citi TY Forward gets 5x on Amazon, but doesn't get it for Amazon Payments. I'm going to assume that the same would go for the Freedom.
The best card is 1) the card that you need to get to a minimum spend with, or 2) any card with an "every purchase" bonus, such as United Club, or some cards with activity/retention offers in effect.
