With the new codeshared service, if I want to buy a ticket from Ottawa to a city that BD serves (besides LHR), will it be cheaper to buy it as a BD (codeshare on the AC transatlantic flight) and than as a BD flight from LHR to the other British or European city, than buy the ticket as an AC transatlantic flight, followed by a BD flight (AC only codeshares on a few BD intraEuropean or intraBritain flights)?

Are there any disadvantages in flying the AC flight as a BD codeshare (besides the very restricted ability to upgrade, assuming there are seats available to upgrade to)?
