So what are your interests? A night-time summer walk through the middle of Prague can be awesome. There's definitely something to be said for that...and I understand the appeal of earning/spending points, but you don't HAVE to spend that much to be in a good location and still be more central than the airport.

In the summer, the night time walk is very appealing. There's plenty of people out and it's very safe in my opinion.
Midday August can be draining considering the temperature and the crowds. You may want to hang out in the hotel for a little bit during lunchtime before heading back out to explore.
