Wouldn't changing livery cost a ton of extra money AA doesn't have? I am sure there has to be many studies before changing a known logo.
I really hate it when companies update their product or image. They normally get it very wrong. New Coke comes to mind as a perfect example.
Changing the livery will end up saving them money most likely, since they'll no longer have to polish planes which is costly.
