Yep, and unfortunately United is now stuck with that logo.
While AA titles on the US livery wouldn't look horrific like the utter garbage that is the "new" UA/CO livery, AA really should come up with their own livery. The current one only looks good on new planes. Seeing 757s and MD-80s look oxidized, scratched, and dull isn't very fun anymore.
