I'm also thinking of a trip to Sydney, where 22K points ($275) gets a $750 room at the Park Hyatt Sydney.
The only drawback to the points is that you get their "entry level" rooms, which may not be the greatest, and they're not upgradeable. But how bad can a room at one of their premier properties be?
Yes, I could use my 132K points to buy air tickets worth $1,650. I'm sure I will remember my four days in Paris a lot longer than I'd remember $1,650 extra in my checking account.
Thanks for the feedback!! Agree with you 100%. Best value with Hyatt w Cat 6 is is NYC, Maldives, or Paris. My concern is that basic room "entry level" at these properties.
