In this case, though, you don't want a reprice, do you?

Changes after the first segment is flown -- to allow a stopover -- are generally okay, but could easily trigger a HIP (higher intermediate point) reprice depending on the specific rules of your ticket. Take for example, the two folliwng rules that may or may not exist in some of our tickets:
  • THE HIGHER INTERMEDIATE POINT RULE DOES NOT APPLY FOR STOPOVERS.
  • NO HIP OR MILEAGE EXCEPTIONS APPLY.

In the case of the first rule, the number of stopovers is dependent on the rest of the fare rules and there is no change in price so changes to add/remove stopovers should be fine. In the case of the second, you are likely liable for payment of an extra fare if breaking the fare in your chosen stopover causes things to price out higher than the fare you have paid. Again, with these fares any recalculation will almost certainly cause a significant increase in price.

In order to determine what your options are you need to look at the specific fare rules for the ticket you purchased.
But where do I find the specific fare rules for the ticket I've purchased?

I have a seat in F class on two EK 777 sectors. I'd like to swap to an A380 but I see they have no F booking code on that aircraft.

Is it possible, ceteris paribus, to change from F to P without a re-price? Or is that the point: A380 First is harder to come by than 777 First? That said, the fares are available at exactly the same price, whether A380 or 777.

Secondly, if the fare rules permit such changes, would I be subject to a re-price, even though the EK sectors are down the itinerary (ie. not first) if I try to do it before flying the first sector?
