Anyone manage to score *A C 77x award seats LAX-AKL-LAX recently ?
Changed my trip from Apr to Nov, but still had the same problems searching for LAX/SFO-AKL NZ C *A award seats and ended up giving up. I forked over a few more MP miles and went with UA F instead. I also decided to add a week in AU where I'll probably head to Tasmania.

IAD-LAX-SYD, SYD-ZQN, CHC-SYD-SFO-IAD

Ended up with very good connection/depart/arrival timing and scored maximum seating class possible. Availability on LAX/SFO<->SYD UA F is not bad and worth a look, especially if you'll be stopping in AU anyway before/after heading to NZ.

If NZ is not making these seats available to *A ... hopefully NZ airpoints flyers are scoring upgrades.
