It has gotten better. I most recently ate at Tilia and thought it was very, very good. The problem, as I see it is that the scene isn't breaking new ground and trends still seem to come late to the area. I'm waiting for someone to do something that really puts MSP on the map. If you asked me, I'd be mining the Hmong community for inspiration...

Sorry, had to "chime-in" about that. While it ain't no NYC, Boston is no longer a 'slacker' in the foodie world.
There are a lot of restaurants I like in Boston, but like many things there, things seem a bit too hidebound, IMO. In some ways, I'd say the same about NYC, but they have so many choices that you can find pretty much everything. Chicago seems to take more risks.
