Fly her to ORD, NYC or SEA for a weekend, followed by a one way awards flight to Europe, and a cheap one way awards ticket home. Or for that matter a round trip awards ticket back to the departure and a one-way back to Canada..
This has nothing to do with Canadian taxes
Its a co-pay type fee collected by Air Canada - which stays in their pocket - NOT A TAX

There are no one-ways with Aeroplan.
