After two hours and a REASONABLE and compassionate supervisor UA agreed to refund a substantial dollar value of the ticket if I paid the $250 international change fee, which given the amount of the refund was fair. My wife gets to fly back to US in BusinessFirst and there is now only one award travel to her mother's hospital.
