Don't underestimate the power of full Y. From my experience, full Y blows almost everything else (elite tier, Reserve card status, etc.) away in terms of upgrade-ability.

The only thing that would out-trump it would be if somebody outright bought B.E. seats or got bumped into B.E. from a different (oversold) flight.
