The OP's rant seemed a bit overblown to me. Bully for him that he found arguably better flights for less money. It is always good to comparison shop if money is the only consideration.
Because of my decision, overblown or not I "fell" into some amazing F fares ex Dubai that I never would have known about
(when planning a business trip it's always a great thing if you can maximize your miles. But as stated, this was NOT a typical business trip for these employees, the big "treat" for them is coming to Dubai for the first time for 8 days (4 off them days off). Miles don't even come into the mix when planning this kind of trip. I actually preferred them on EK but the fares did not work out so I went w UA as it was easy and the animal they know. I was not thinking about there earned miles when I booked it and I was not thinking about that when it was refunded. (BA is part of one world so they can all earn AA miles. The economical way to go for this many people would have been KU or RJ but I would not put them thru that to save a few $$
