My own opinion in this is that I doubt that it ever would have been a permanent benefit. It must be costing a lot of money for either amex or CX with CX being the biggest loser.
Again, something we'll never know is if Amex actually pays a one off fee to CX for the cards or reimburses their expenses incurred because of them.
