Not to thread jack here but how is wearing socks in the lav "disgusting"? This isn't bare feet we're talking about. Nothing on the plane is clean... and the person wearing socks -- presumably cleaner than the floors of a lav -- is taking his/her life in their own hands by risking a step into unknown (bleh) fluids. This doesn't affect you, the easily offended observer.

Bare feet, OTOH, is as obnoxious and inconsiderate of fellow passengers as doing VoIP or any kind of loud voice conversation on the flying sardine can.
