Corporate rate = no Points?

Hi everyone,

I'm not a frequent poster so I apologise in advance if this topic has been covered before but a quick search didn't turn anything up, so here goes...

I stayed at the Hilton Jumeira Beach resort in Dubai about three weeks ago, not my favourite hotel in Dubai, not even my favourite hotel on the street, but I'm shooting for Diamond status this year and could do with the points so they got my business on this trip. Anyway, I was there on business for a week and was looking forward to a reasonable points haul given the total bill came to around $3,000.

However, it's been a while and it still hasn't appeared on my account so I called HH customer support today and they told me that their records indicate I booked the hotel using a corporate rate and that was not eligible for reward points.

I travel for work pretty much every week and stay in a lot of Hilton hotels. I always book them via my corporate web booking system and, yes, I work for a big company and, yes, we do get good corporate rates. However, this is the first time this I've been denied points because I have booked a room in this manner. In fact, this is the first time I've ever heard that certain rate could be ineligible for points. Honestly, if I had known I wasn't going to earn any points for this stay I would have booked it directly or simply stayed at one of the (far superior) hotels in the local vicinity, such as Grosvenor House or Le Meridian Beach Resort & Spa.

Regardless, my point is this, if I book a hotel at a certain room rate and give them my loyalty programme details and they know that rate isn't going to earn any loyalty points, shouldn't they inform me? They didn't even tell me when I checked in or when they upgraded my room. If they had I would have switched rate or just walked.

Meanwhile HH Customer Services have raised a case on my behalf with the hotel, but no promises so any help or advice would be greatly appreciated at this point.
