There is something of a refurb going on at the Waldorf. My last stay about 2 weeks ago saw us in a very newly refurbished room which was meant to be an Executive room but was slightly smaller than the Exec rooms I have had previously on other floors which have all been relatively similar in design with a distinctly separate seating area.

This new design had a much more luxurious vibe than the red/gold style interiors and stark white bathrooms in the older style rooms. As a result it felt much warmer although it was slightly smaller with framed prints of actors (Bette Davis featured heavily in the room I was in) and cool blue greys with a nice geometrical theme running through the carpet and followed through in other room features. Refurb work is ongoing on the third floor (my guess is about a third of the rooms have been completed) and everything is different from the corridors to the door design. There is something of a smell of new paint about the whole floor however.

The sofa was located at the end of the bed and whilst the room was terrifically big this worked reasonably well. We did however only have a relatively short overnight stay.

I thought that the Exec Rooms at the Waldorf effectively are junior suites since they all have a seating area of sorts? What I don't quite understand from the OP's post is why they would want to share a Kind Bed room with their stepmother? Surely there are twin rooms which would work out better?
