Inflight service sure was a lot better in the seventies. First Class was really First Class because most of its occupants weren't sitting up there as part of a free upgrade like nowadays. One of my favorite remembrances about flying back then was that most planes were never full. You almost always had an empty middle seat next to you. Also, some airlines had lounges on board their widebodied aircraft.
