I Would much rather save the 300 for a chance of an MMB proactive upgrade. If you're in F already, is there really a need to pay £300 to avoid 5 minutes in a queue and an at most 15 minute walk?
Surely the pint of this is not so much to avoid what you mention, but rather to avoid the unspeakable hoi-polloi that infest the public areas of an airport.
