VZW's general policy is that retaining a legacy plan has nothing to do with whether or not you're on a contract. Don't specifically know about Unlimited Global, but lots of people with the domestic grandfathered unlimited data are off-contract (i.e., month-to-month because their contracts are long-expired). VZW reps have repeatedly told me that this is the policy, but of course, there's no contract and they're free to change it whenever they want. But this has long been the policy and it's nothing new (I was on a legacy voice plan for years).
