Good point, but I could make the same arguments about perfume. (My mother has an anaphylaxis reaction to most perfumes and air fresheners.) Yet can anyone imagine the reaction if she called the front desk and asked them to track down the skank on a nearby balcony wearing too much Chanel No 5? I understand there is a slight difference in that pot is illegal, but I think the point is pretty much the same - the hotel has no business attempting to enforce the 'smells' wafting outside the hotel.
OP, I'm betting you use perfume or similar personal care products with fragrance. I assure you that is far more dangerous to your child's health than one incident of pot smoke drifting in through the balcony. I would bet in this case that the child is picking up your anger and upset, rather than actually being 'woken up' by pot smoke.
There is a point where your sensitivities are your own problem.
Nikolaos is exactly right.
