TSA has nothing to do with the issuing or surrendering of passports (nor are they are authorized representitives). That is Dept of States territory not Dept of Homeland Stupidty. They cant even tell a fake ID from a legit unless its a horrible attempt at a ID.
Even if any of that were true, the argument still doesn't make sense. Either the TSA are authorized representatives and you must comply if they demand your passport, or they aren't and they won't be able to do anything with it even if you do give it to them.
I appreciate that you have strong feelings towards the TSA and DHS, but you don't really know what you're talking about.
