It's still nice to get preferred seating. One thing I am worried about is what will happen with the AA bAAncruptcy and how it affects us AS MP members. It has been nice after all these years to have preferred seating and free bags, but has always been good to at least have the partnership and elite mileage accrual. I assume if AA and USAirways merge, we will lose that partnership.
At PDX our choices to go east are so limited now. AA pulled all their ORD flights and only go to DFW now, and DL pulled the CVG flights. So now it's DL to ATL or SLC or AA or DFW for connections other than one AS flight to ORD which is at useless times and terrible connections for any business traveller. So if AA goes AAway then the already always full PDX/ATL flights will be even worse. Several times of late I have had to take DL ATL to SLC and then to PDX because the ATL PDX flights are full.
