I did click "and participating airlines" and HA still did not show up. Thought it might be my browser so used a different one to no avail. At 3:30 this morning I was able to get a return (after calling every hour on the hour) and here is what happend: I realize some of you will say SO WHAT, but anyway:
When I originally called and after changing dates was able to get the one way NY/HNL, I used my name since the miles are in my name and my granddaughter is only ten at the moment. So now, I feel good, I will book the return, let her fly the award ticket, purchase a ticket for me, and we will be set.
No dice. They tell me that since I put my name on the original hold, I would have to cancel the trip going, probably losing it, because of the name change. Thus in order to keep the hold I have to use the award and purchase the ticket for her, letting her get all the miles.
Frustrated, but considering doing it anyway, I say okay, how much is the purchased ticket....she figures it out and it is close to a thousand dollars. I took a couple of hours with the free seat on hold and thought about it.
On reconsideration, I cancelled the held flights, and decided to take her when camp is over at the end of august instead, when hopefully I can get two free tickets.
Now here is my new question:
If AA charges peak times, and HA doesn't, do I have to use the amoung AA charges or what HA charges????? If I've made you all crazy, I'm sorry. It's no sleep from talking on phones with AA.
