My immediate family has no connection to GoI, AI or otherwise. My extended family is Air Force, so I'm related to a lot of pilots. They all seem to end up on JetLite though, which I avoid like crazy... LCC service at FSC fares

Generally people think they own the airline, and can do anything they want. And then make themselves end up in seriously embarrassing situations, apart from it being embarrassing for the crew. The cmd line is the most common one, a polite no usually does the job.
I'm tempted to try the "I am the CMD's friend and he is not picking up" line.. With the twist that once they try to kick me out, I'll take out my mobile and actually call him

He's never heard of me (unless he's read my blog). Needless to say, that would be an interesting conversation
