Not entirely true. If barriers to entry are considerable (as they often are with complex businesses such as airlines) there is less of a chance of that occurring. I personally do look forward to anyone breaking UA's stranglehold in Houston, because the fortress hub system is awful for customers.
C/D is an embarrassment. Sheremetyevo in '92 looked better.
I would love to see UA's fortress hub status broken in Houston but it won't be Southwest that does it and it probably won't be anyone flying out of Hobby. I would have jumped on the AA status match in a heartbeat if they operated more flights out of IAH. As it is my 3 hour direct flights would become 6+ hour and a stop flights.
Lack of competition and IAH is a bad thing IMHO.
