Thank you for all the great advise. Yes we will be traveling together on the same flights, and I see Z9 right now for the flights I want, so I will be heading to the DL ticket office here in Manila later to book the flights.

When we get booked will it show us as being booked in J immediately after booking and can we then select our seats? I am hoping to get on one of the refurbished 747S at least one way if not both, but will settle for the 777 with the lie flats connecting thru MSP.

If we do get on the refurbished 747S, any recommendations on seats as a couple? I upstairs in 1-1, but seems a little far apart to carry on a conversation if needed. Also if on the 777, I know I normally book 7A, but have never flown this plane in J with my wife, would 7A and 6B be a good bet?
