I believe technically you should be able to do the standby for F. However, I've had (and read of) GAs refusing to allow it saying it's unfair to those already on standby for the flight with no confirmed tickets for later. They especially take exception to those with status where if they did put you on the list you'd bump to the top of the list right away.

Unfortunately this is one of those things that will have so many variables that there is no one answer. I've had it work (before having status) and have it fail. The best advice is show up early and ask nicely. YMMV as the FT mantra goes...
