If you do get one (and I have been plat for years and maybe have had 4 suites over the years, worldwide) it is a huge bonus. Granted at The Renaissance Phuket I have been very lucky. Two visits and two Pool Villa Upgrades which was fantastic. That against the JW where I have been 16 times over the past 10 years paid for a suite once, and once had the Royal Villa at huge expense (over $1000 a night! for my birthday for a week). Since then, the most I got was a sea view room upgraded from a garden view. I just stayed at the JW for 2 nights, the suites were mostly empty (you could see from the beach walk), and still I was left in my sea view standard (lovely though it was).
The other issue at the JW is that they NEVER post the correct points credit so watch out for it!
Yes, I know suite upgrades are not included. I get suites at most Asian properties, especially ones I frequent. So I am just saying jw Marriott Phuket is stingy, that's all. I never complain, but I don't need to prefer this property, and it's too busy anyways. Total zoo. I prefer jw Khao lak.
Points credits in Thailand are off the wall. Always have to chase them or they use an ancient exchange rate to convert the thb to usd.
