2. When you redeem BA Avios, you pay BA's redemption rates -- not AA's -- regardless of which carrier(s) you actually fly on. BA might charge more, or fewer, miles for a particular redemption. But BA definitely assesses fuel surcharges for TATL award travel on AA.

3. There have been some reports suggesting that one can redeem Avios for JFK-AMM-DEL on RJ with little or no fuel surcharges, as long as one merely connects in AMM. I can't vouch for that, but it's certainly worth exploring.

Yes, MR points to Avios and booking on a partner like AA from JFK to LHR and then BA to DEL because the taxes are cheaper.
I do have have AA points I can use, but I'm flush with MR right now and I'm trying to figure if I can utilize the 50% bonus other than short haul US flights
None of the flights I was considering had a stopover.
