The article doesn't purport to rank hubs.
It ranks a number of different airport functions that connecting passengers don't care about, for example:
location
ease of public transportation
check-in
baggage handling
It also seems to rank all issues equally. I don't care about spa services and coffee shops, but apparently many people do.
When I lived in SF, I thought that SFO was a good airport (other than delays).
Now that I am in Seattle and use SFO as a hub, I think that SFO is horrible because of the potential for missed connections. I try to avoid it at all costs unless my final destination is SF.
SEA is a nice airport, but is it among the best? I don't think so. Not especially clean. Overcrowded baggage claim area. Relatively long security lines for the size of the airport. Long walk (or train) to get to many of the gates. Not enough international flights.
