I just flew on US and was upgraded and the infant in arm was a non-issue. Just so you don't think horribly of me, I told my husband I'd move back to economy comfort to sit with him or give him the upgraded ticket. I obviously need to hold the baby since I'm breastfeeding but was happy to give my tall husband the upgrade so he could enjoy a comfortable flight. However, the supervisor wouldn't let me keep the upgrade and have my husband be the infant in arm ticket holder.

Just some background, I'm platinum and my husband doesn't have DL status. I booked an award ticket and he paid for an economy ticket. The price of the infant in arms ticket was the same whether it was on my ticket or on his so at the airport they just tacked it onto mine. Maybe I should have put it on my husbands ticket. Then I would have been able to keep the upgrade from FRA-JFK.

I'd appreciate any information on upgrades for infant in arms since I'd be willing to leave DL for this. Platinum status without upgrades isn't worth it.
It must have had something to do with it being an op-up vs. a complimentary upgrade. I have not had a problem receiving domestic upgrades when I had an infant in arms listed. Maybe it was because you would have needed to pay more for the infant fare if they let you move up and they didn't want to deal with it?
