Fly into PUJ, stay in Punta Cana. La Romana is nice also and i think has calmer waters because it's on the other side of the national park. I've heard bad things about the north part of the island and some water bug biting everyone in the water.

I had a lot of fun on Punta Cana both times...proposed to my wife there.

Be careful with the mama juana....it will def hit you hard and fast
