Each airline would have anomalies here and there.
I flew Amman to Dubai on Emirates, and the flight was frankly sub-standard, way below the average service you would expect on Emirates.
- Boarding in Amman was majorly delayed by the ground crew which was very last minute. When they finally bothered boarding passengers, they had to hold up the process because an aircraft just landed at the next gate and apparently you can't have departing and arriving passengers on the same corridor and arriving passengers apparently have the right of way, even if they are the LAST passengers on the flight, on wheelchair and are 30 metres from you. They can't just stop the boarding only when the arriving passengers are approaching our gate.
- The flight crew found any excuses not to do their job. There was a slight turbelence and the fasten seat belt sign was on. The flight attendants used that to announce that tea or coffee would not be served. The seat belt sign was switched off 5 minutes later and guess what ? No coffee or tea, even when anybody went back to the galley to ask for it.
- The aircraft was A330. In flight entertainment in Economy was a joke - 22 channels and the movie channels from 1 to 10 were not working. ICE ? What's that ?!
- Even though it was 9:20pm and there were plenty of gates available in Dubai, the aircraft had to park "out there" and we had to take the 15-minute bus ride to the terminal. Connecting to the 11pm flight to Bangkok almost felt tight.
Would this stop me from flying Emirates ? Probably not. Do I think other airlines are necessary better ? Probably not either. But thanks to the tight connection in Dubai, our bags were the first to arrive in Bangkok. (Not sure if it has to do with the "BT1" on the luggage tag. Anyone knows what "BT1" and "BT2" mean ?)
