Medical Emergencies on Flights - Then What Happens?

Witnessed a minor medical emergency on a TATL flight yesterday. Impressed by how quickly the cabin crew reacted and thankfully the person involved ended up being fine.

But this got me thinking. We were near Newfoundland at the time. If the plane had made an unscheduled stop to offload the person, after said person made a recovery, whose responsibility is it to get them to their original destination? The passenger or the airline?
