AMEX MR to BA transfer is INSTANT. Even if you are logged in your BA account, all you need to do is to refresh your screen and the miles show up.
To be safe-guard of typo, better do a copy/paste job of the BA number when links it to AMEX MR account. Then do a 1K test transfer before doing the full amount.
So I really dont see the point of your "Trading question."
BA is also quite over-zealous in auditing people's accounts for redemption, even for the members of the same household account.
Do a search in the BA forum to get a glimpse of it.
The "Speed Up" method may wound up with account temporary being frozen. Not that it would happen but if the account has few redemption activities before and suddenly redeem a ticket for a "3rd party", it may trip some flags and the BA's trigger-happy audit team which seems to act first, ask question later.
