Incorrect expiration date on Citi AA companion certificates
Just a heads up: I recently applied for a Citi AA card that included a free domestic companion certificate. The certificate arrived today with a June 30 "travel expiration date," which seemed more than a little onerous -- especially since there's even a 2 week advance purchase requirement.
I called Citi, and the clueless agent transferred me to AAdvantage (which I think was the wrong place to be transferred, because it was Citi that issued the certificate). Fortunately, I got a smart AA agent who was able to figure out that these Citi certificates have all had their expiration dates extended by 6 months -- so I actually have until Dec. 30 to use it (abiding by the blackout dates, of course).
BTW, the certificate looks useful in that it seems to include all the usual fare buckets. Are "Q" and "O" the ones I'm likely to need for a cheapo fare? Are there any cheaper buckets where I wouldn't be able to use the cert?
