Which plan would you use: US or UA?

Hello again. Would love the advice of anyone on this forum who cares to weigh in...

I'm currently US Gold. I'm going to fly at least 100K this year. Have over 100K ff miles on US, and am 17K of the way toward gaining Chairman's status. I'm flying to Australia tomorrow, and China later in the month, and am wondering if I should jump ship and use those miles to UA instead. Here are factors I'm considering:

- I've already got some traction with US
- US kinda sucks. Domestic FC is lame. Most of my international flights are on UA or other airlines, but even if I did fly US internationally, not sure I'd get upgraded.
- US Chairman's only gets 2 one-way upgrade passes (and 2 for a companion). I think that means just one trip per year? That's lame, too.

- People seem horribly disappointed with post-merger UA. Is it a bad time to give this a try?
- I think UA Premier 1K gets more upgrade passes than US. 6 one-way, right?

So, given these factors and maybe others that you guys know that I haven't been considering - would you jump ship and move to UA? Or stay with US? My BIGGEST priority is to figure out more ways to get upgraded when flying internationally. Economy on a long haul overnight is horrible.

All advice MOST appreciated!!
