If you go to a restaurant typically used by Japanese senior businessmen, the food (and beverages) will be expensive, even without the possible karaoke hostesses etc. If you are willing to go to inexpensive, small hole-in-the-wall type of places on your own, you can eat pretty cheap (and well!). But you don't entertain your customers there.
The whole Karaoke thing always cracks me up! I'm not familiar with a "karaoke hostess"...is that Japanese for "hooker"?
