A simple matter of transferring from T1 (TAP from LIS arriving 11:35) to T2 (TG to BKK 13:00). Baggage will be checked through, so we are talking airside transfers and not a great deal of time.

How easy is this for an older, slower passenger who I know () will refuse assistance.

Aena's website isn't a model of clarity on this subject.
Are you sure your LIS flight is arriving to T1 and not T2? Schengen *A flights normally use T2 and T1 is reserved for non-Schengen flights or lowcost airlines.

Anyhow, you will not need to take a train/bus or whatever to transfer from one terminal to the other. T1/T2/T3 are all connected in one single building so you will only need to take a nice walk through the fabulous old facilities of MAD.
