OK, I see your point now. As noted previously, having to go into the drop-down menu to get anything is irritating anyway: most sites allow a "click and hold" display of drop-downs.

Perhaps I'm finding it OK because I used to have to do it on an iPod Touch … I'm thus accustomed to doing a quick "zoom-swipe" before clicking accurately.
