Surprised the Marriott didn't shoo them away...agree with those who suggest that typically a hotel would or should discourage this activity.
I was in LV this past weekend: most of the big properties were either sold out or selling at max rack rate, but when I was checking rates middle of last week there were plenty of off-strip properties with rooms at normal rates. It was definitely a big weekend but I don't think it was so insane that people were getting walked with no alternate accommodation.
How many total sleepers are we talking about? Whole groups of people with all of their luggage, etc.? Or just a couple of people passed out after a night out? Did they appear hunkered down for the night or might they have just been waiting on a cab to catch an odd-hour flight home?
Just knowing how pervasive the security presence is in Vegas, I'd be surprised if there wasn't some sort of explanation that the hotel was aware of. In fact, I was in a Marriott on Saturday night (Cosmo) and a homeless man wandered briefly into our restaurant. Security immediately confronted him and (gently) migrated him out the door. So I can't imagine that random people would be able to sleep on a couch all night long without someone from the hotel taking notice.
