They actually don't have a lot of markup on most of their wines, considering once they bottle is opened they may get a couple of pours out of it, then a few days later the rest has gone bad and they have to throw it out.

Granted, some of their bottles are quite pricy, but people are willing to pay that much for a piece of history, especially some of them that go all the way back to 1850 or so. It's not exactly like the pricier ones are widely available, thus the price.

Still pricy, but just passing along what I learned at Bern's touring their wine cellar--at least what they told me.
sorry, you misunderstood me. i have been to Bern's many many times. i was saying that it is cheaper to fly to TPA, buy wine of Bern's wine list versus the price that I would pay at a restaurant where i live for the same bottle of wine.

i have been with group dinners where there are two digits after the "," on the bill.
