Why would they refund you? The obvious thing would be for them to propose moving you to the nearest BA (operated by EI) flight. As there are up to 13 of those each day, it shouldn't end up being too much of an inconvenience.

To BahrainLad - as things stand, bmi have their own lounge at Dublin, which you can now access with your BA Gold or Silver card. Ditto at LHR T1.

Should things change and you end up travelling on an Aer Lingus operated service, the Gold Circle lounges at LHR T1 and DUB T2 will gladly admit you with your BA Gold or Silver card. (Or rather, that is the current status, though if there is a falling out between EI and BA over the bmi purchase this may have changed by November!)
The reason why they might refund was in my post. The EI codeshare is not valid for O&D, it's only sold as a feeder to a LON departure on the same booking. I can't definitively remember what happened existing bookings when BA ceased LGW-DUB a few years back, but that's probably the best precedent.
