Paid upgrades are offered only when there is upgrade space available. Upgrade space is a subset of the unsold F seats as determined by revenue management. All Alaska elites and Delta elites are allowed unlimited complimentary upgrades prior to paid upgrades being offered. Upgrades are available:

> Via online checkin, starting 24 hours prior to departure for those who have bought expensive (Y/S/B/M/H) fares
> At airport kiosks, on the day of departure for those who have bought expensive (Y/S/B/M/H) fares
> At the ticket counter, on the day of departure for those on any paid fare
> At the gate, immediately prior to departure for those on any paid fare

Please note that the seat map is NOT a good indicator of available upgrades. People may have bought/upgraded to F without an assigned seat, or revenue management may not have released an unsold seat for upgrade.
