except that the OP really only got their room 1 hour after they should have , the fact they showed up at 1pm doesnt count since Offical Check-in is at 3pm

Also did the OP ask if they had any other room available , Ive downgraded myself numerous times (not from what I was paying for but from the Upgrade the Hotel assigned to me) as it was more important to me to get any room rather then the suite or view room they set aside for me
