The national average is just over $21,000. My trusty calculator puts that at $400+ a week. I would think it is very hard to get by on that money in any urban area.
Folks do you know the starting pay for feeder aircraft pilots working to bring flyers to a hub airport start around $ 18000 ?
So do you tip the pilots who hold your life in their hands ? Looks like they make less than the maids ! Remember they don't get any allowance for overnight layovers, they sleep in a crash pad for maybe $ 25 a night or a couch in a lounge .
The maids ( substitute any manual job here ) may not fold your towels just right, not dust room perfectly......they are under a time pressure by management to do X rooms in Y minutes to control costs and improve profits / bonuses.
