I will say that Qatar Airways ground staff are very inconsistent so i really cannot comment on what will happen.

As far as verifying by card, I bought a ticket for my Dad and then scanned the front and back of the credit and sent it too my Dad. He then showed this to the Qatar Airways office and they verified the ticket.

Thats all I can say really. So it does work.
